You can now legally swap your DVSA driving test date with another candidate through official DVSA channels or verified third-party platforms, free of charge if done correctly.


Official DVSA Test Swap


A driving test swap is when two learners exchange their booked test appointments. This can be done with a friend or another candidate who has a test date you want.


To swap officially you have to contact the DVSA:

  1. Both parties (students) must have booked driving tests.
  2. Obtain each other’s booking reference numbers.
  3. Call the DVSA on 0300 200 1122 and provide both references.
  4. The DVSA will process the swap, updating both test appointments.
    This process is     free, legal, and ensures your booking remains valid without paying extra fees.


Important Considerations

  • Mutual consent is required; both parties must agree to the swap.
  • No money should change hands; paying for swaps is not legal and may be a scam.
  • Personal details like licence numbers and booking references are needed to complete the swap.

  • If you need to cancel or change a test outside a swap, you must give at least three working days’ notice to get a refund www.gov.uk

How it works


  1. All you need to be is a 1st choice student and fill out the below form.
  2. We will then help you swap your test with another 1st choice student.
  3. 1st choice driving school will then communicate with their driving instructors and help you swap your driving test
  4. Once we have the swap buddy you will then be given each other number and then one of you contact the DVSA on 0300 200 1122 and provide both reference numbers of the tests. You do not need to be together to swap the test
  5. The DVSA will process the swap, updating both test appointments.


This process is free, legal, and ensures your booking remains valid without paying extra fees.


Please ensure instructor is available for the swap as you still need to give 10 working days to cancel a booked test.


As you know this is a new service and may be a few teething probles at the DVSA.
